With an estimated 50% of all college-age women having experienced some form of sexual assault; and 50% of these women being victims of attempted or completed rapes, sexual assault towards women continues to be a major public health issue across the United States. The impact of rape can be extremely devastating and negatively affect the mental and/or physical health of the victim. With the definition of"sexual assault" being extremely narrow, women do not have a clear understanding of what sexual assault is and are continuously at risk of being victimized or re-victimized.
