The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore resiliency factors veterans use when transitioning from military to community colleges, and then on to four year academic institutions. Data were collected from conducting 12 one-on-one interviews with veterans who were 21-26 years old. Study results showed participants had difficulties upon returning from a combat zone and transitioning to life as a civilian and student, however there was mitigating factors that assisted veterans with this transition. Participants reported that resource centers, veteran peer to peer interaction, campus veteran clubs, and academic counselors with knowledge of military culture as most beneficial for successful transfers from community colleges to universit...
