Teen dating violence education and prevention: A grant proposal

The purpose of this project was to write a grant to fund a teen dating violence education and prevention program. A 90-minute presentation will be provided to approximately 700 incoming high school students at the start of the school year. The program also includes four cycles of educational and supportive groups for victims and at-risk students. Approximately 50 students will participate in those groups. Finally, an evidence-based curriculum will be incorporated throughout the school year and a poster contest will be held to further awareness of this issue. The proposed program will raise awareness about teen dating violence and abuse by providing education about healthy versus abusive relationships and will empower students to seek help. Program outcomes will be assessed using pre- and post-tests of knowledge of dating violence and self-confidence in responding to its occurrence.
