The purpose of this project was to create a program, identify potential grant funding sources, and then write a grant to fund an Intensive Family Reunification Services (IFRS) program to reduce the number of American Indian youth in foster care, in South Dakota, through The Collaborative Hocoka agency. A broad literature review was completed, resulting in increased knowledge concerning the problem of overrepresentation among American Indian youth and the foster care system. The literature review provided information regarding evidence-based IFRS programs, which the grant writer used to develop a best-practices program.
