This thesis addresses the impact of certain postmodern claims on the Christian narrative. It looks to Jean François Lyotard, Jean Baudrillard, and Frederic Jameson to frame a discussion with regard to these claims. Each of these postmodern authors poses challenges to Christianity and its relevance in our contemporary context. The Christian narrative, on the other hand, responds to these challenges with boldness and clarity recognizing its contingency, historicity, and particularity in a plural context. When Christian truth claims are reflected upon, internalized and lived out, they challenge the disvalues of a schizophrenic existence and offer a model of behavior that leads to meaning and hope, especially for those groups that have been tra...
