This project presented the social and emotional impact of a learning disability among middle school aged children as compared to typical learners. A review of literature summarized the comparison of the social/emotional needs of typical middle school learners to students with learning disabilities. Additionally, the review of literature explored current interventions for students with a learning disability. Findings suggest that students with a learning disability have higher rates of anxiety, depression, high-school drop-out, and increased rates of suicide and current intervention models are not meeting the unique needs among students with a learning disability.
