Effects of employee engagement, spirituality, and optimism on job Satisfaction and performance among Malaysia professionals: A conceptual framework

Job satisfaction and job performance have been an interest to organization and academic researchers. There has been a long debate on the relationship between satisfaction-performance. Some studies identified the relationship of these factors were contradictory. In addition, we identified employee's satisfaction-performance was associated with their employee engagement. Despite these finding, Malaysia's employee engagement is low compared with other countries. We suspect there are other psychological or motivational factors influencing satisfaction-performance relationship. We posited that workplace spirituality, optimism, and motivation are antecedent factors to job satisfaction, leading to job performance. In this study, we aim to propose a conceptual framework to analyze the relationship between these factors. Survey questionnaire will be adapted from previous studies and purposive sampling technique will be used on three groups of professionals: accountants, engineers, and academics
