Diabetes mellitus, is one of the main health problems worldwide due to its epidemic behavior in recent decades, is a disease notoriously affected by social aspects, among them, the economic conditions of the patient. Based on this premise, the present article set out to evaluate the family economic condition of poverty as a risk factor in the development of the diabetic foot. For this, a descriptive-transversal methodology with an observational analytical design was applied. The information was obtained through a clinical examination of the feet of 377 people with diabetes who have a medical history at the Jipijapa, Los Rosales, Puerto Quito and El Carmen health centers.
