Material waste is the ‘dark side’ of renovation inconstruction and discarded materials and componentspotentially represent a triple capital related toeconomy, energy, and culture. The project explores, bydevising and constructing 20 full-scale prototypes, newpractices for high-level reuse of dismantled buildingcomponents and materials at all product stages fromsourcing to disassembly. New commissions for products and methodsconfirm the commercial potential; LCAs confirm theassumption of environmental benefits of reuse; and theinterest in prototypes and open-source disseminationof results will hopefully inspire the constructionsector and users for further cultural development andimplementation
