Mengingat semakin banyak mahasiswa di Sumatera Utara yang berminat melanjutkan pendidikan tingginya dalam Manajemen Informatika dan Komputer, maka sangat diperlukan adanya kualitas pendidikan yang tinggi di perguruan tinggi umumnya dan di STMIK di propinsi Sumatera Utara khususnya. Peningkatan kualitas pendidikan ilmu Manajemen Informatika dan Komputer sangat ditentukan oleh kenerja dosen. Penelitian ini fokus pada pengkajian ilmu manajemen SDM kontemporer terutama pada analisis pengaruh budaya organsasi, motivasi kerja, dan kompetensi dosen terhadap komitmen afektif dan loyalitas dosen dalam hubungannya dengan upaya peningkatan kinerja dosen di STMIK di propinsi Sumatera Utara.
