The Ardèche River is one of the scarce rivers in the South-East of France to have been preserved. Its hydrologic regime and the quality of its water bear witness to an alluvial system which is functional and preserved. The study of the low-water bed of the Ardèche River gorges underscores their close link with the hydrologic working of this alluvial ecosystem. The processes of erosion, transportation and deposits are obviously giving birth to all the moss communities. The latter are conditioned by the flow of matter and energy at play during floods, on various time and space scales. Therefore, the conservation of this unique heritage depends exclusively on the maintenance of the natural hydrologic characteristics of the Ardèche River.L’Ardè...
