This study investigates the contribution of food system to food security and nutrition through the performance of supply chain of the food system. Supply chain performance metrics are developed from food elasticities (Hull, 2005), which are derived from food system estimates and regression technique highlights their relationships with food security. Data used are from two sources: producers and consumers price indices as well as quantities of foods produced, consumed, and imported are all from the FAOstat, while statistics on gross domestic products, expenditures for consumption, nutrition and food security indicators are from the WDI database.
