The accumulated snow in the High Atlas of Morocco represents an important water resource for the local population in the surrounding valleys by recharging groundwater and contributing to the river flow. However, the state of the snowpack is poorly known due to the lack of in situ measurements and high altitude weather stations. To deal with this challenge, we propose in this thesis to assimilate snow cover area data derived from high spatial and temporal resolution images from the Sentinel-2 mission into a distributed snowpack model forced by climate reanalysis data.
