Comprehensive anthropometry was measured on six em- balmed cadavers (3 male, 3 female). The limbs were segmented into minor segments (viz. arm, forearm, hand, thigh, leg and foot) by severance through soft tissue only. Each segment was then fractionated into four components—skin, adipose tissue, muscle and bone—and each component weighed in both air and water. Regression equations were derived for the prediction of intra-segmental tissue component masses from intra-segmental anthropometry. Correlations between the dependent and independent variables exceeded 0.66 for all components in all segments except for the skin of the hand and the adipose tissue of the hand and the foot.
