The PhD work described in this manuscript was performed in the framework of the LUMINEU project, a pilot search for the neutrinoless double beta decay (0νββ) of the isotope in 100Mo with ZnMoO4 scintillating bolometers. The main PhD activity has consisted the development of a particle detection technology able to fulfill the requirement of a next generation experiment on 0νββ capable of exploring the inverted hierarchy region of the neutrino mass pattern. We report about an experimental physics work involving progress in detector prototype design and tests, and development of tools in view of a large experiment preparation.
