La Evaluación del control biológico de Spodoptera frugiperda en el cultivo de maíz

Corn is an important grain in human nutrition and raw material for the elaboration of balanced food products. It has beenworld-wide reported that the most aggressive plague insect is the cogollero worm (Spodoptera frugiperda) since it is considered adefoliator, consumes foliage and attack buds, causing gouging on the softest parts of leaves, slices stems and cobs causing irreversibledamage. Thus, the seeking of alternative control agents such as Metarhizium anisopliae and Bacillus thuringiensis is of greatinterest. The present study is mainly focused on evaluating the control action of fungus Metarhizium anisopliae, bacteria Bacillusthuringiensis, and their interactions to control Spodoptera frugiperda. It was applied the fully randomized blocks design withfactorial arrangement 3 plus one absolute control for a total of 10 treatments and 3 replicates to hybrid Dekalb 7088. The results showed that there was no interaction between the factors under study, but there was a statistical incidence between the factors. The best insecticide efficacy was attained by Bacillus thuringiensis with 3 and 5 cc/l; and Metarhizium anisopliae with 3cc/l attainedthe best performance in variables such as the height of the plant, weight and production kg/ha of the cobs. The biological products applied showed their control effect in Spodoptera frugiperdalarvae populations.El maíz es importante en la alimentación humana y materia prima para la elaboración de productos balanceados. En el mundo se ha reportado que el insecto plaga más agresivo es el gusano cogollero (Spodoptera frugiperda) es un desfoliador, consume el follaje y daña el cogollo haciendo raspaduras sobre las partes tiernas de las hojas, troza tallos y mazorcas produciendo daños irreversibles, por lo que es necesario agentes alternativos de control como son el Metarhizium anisopliae y la Bacillus thuringiensis. El estudio se enfocó en evaluar la acción control del hongo Metarhizium anisopliae, la bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis, y sus interacciones en el control de Spodoptera frugiperda. El diseño fue bloques completos al azar con arreglo factorial 3 m ́as un testigo absoluto paraun total de 10 tratamientos y 3 repeticiones, sobre el híbrido Dekalb 7088. Los resultados muestran que no existe interacción entre los factores en estudio, pero si hubo incidencia estadísticas entre los factores. La mayor eficacia insecticida se alcanzó con Bacillusthuringiensis con 3 y 5 cc/l. Metarhizium anisopliae con 3 cc/l logró el mejor rendimiento en variables como, altura de planta, peso de mazorcas y rendimiento kg/ha.
