Against the traditional view on Tocqueville as a liberal author and thinker of the new democracy, this article aims to delve into his relationship during his live and work with socialist thought of the first half of the 19th century. Through the study of some of his less known texts where he dealt with the challenge of his time concerning the social effects of industrialization such as pauperism, we find a Tocqueville that, if not a socialist, he doesn’t fit either anymore with the narrow framework of a liberal thought that rejects any intervention from the State in social affairs.Frente a la visión clásica de un Tocqueville liberal pensador de la democracia, este artículo se propone indagar en las relaciones que el autor francés ma...
