The problem of production planning and control (PPC) is recurring in the manufacturing sector. With the advent of Industry 4.0 the methods for manag-ing the PPC must now be rethought in order to improve their performance. In this regard, the implementation of cyber-physical systems, on which Industry 4.0 realizations are based, is an important opportunity for the improvement of current PPC systems.
