Extensive research has been conducted to investigate the possibility of using rubber concrete to reduce the dependency of natural resources and thus to achieve environmentally sustainable construction. This paper presents an experimental study on the use of the rubber concrete in an emerging hybrid column form, namely, hybrid FRP-concrete-steel multi-tube concrete columns (MTCCs). The test results showed that the compressive behaviour of hybrid MTCCs with rubber concrete is similar to that of MTCCs with natural aggregate concrete. As a result of the effective confinement from the internal steel tubes and the outer FRP tube in MTCCs, both the ultimate stress and ductility of rubber concrete can be significan...
