The reactions of compounds containing sulphur-fluorine bonds with tertiary phosphine complexes of the platinum metals in low oxidation state, have been investigated. The preparation and properties of a novel metal-pentafluoro-sulphur complex and new chlorofluoro complexes of platinum rhodium and iridium, are reported. Novel metal containing sulphur-nitrogen-fluorine complexes have been prepared, and their chemical properties have been investigated. The properties of new tertiary phosphine transition metal fluoride complexes, prepared by a variety of fluorination techniques, are also reported.
