As societies around the world experience ageing, the issue of providing required levels of health and social care for elderly people is becoming more urgent. Since governments are unlikely to be able to provide the level of care required without significant increases in taxation levels, there arises a need for private sector responses. This case study considers the provision of long-term residential care for people in Thailand and the business opportunities this provides. It concerns in particular the Golden Age Residential Healthcare facility, which is located in a country which has prioritized the wellness industry as a sector of potential high growth in the economy.
