Wikipedia is one of the most used Internet resources, also among students and scientists. At many universities, it is nevertheless a source that is out of favour. However, during recent years research on Wikipedia has developed rapidly, also within linguistics. Linguists are themselves sometimes subjects of Wikipedia articles. The percentage of such articles is bigger in the German Wikipedia, compared to the English, Polish and Finnish language versions investigated here. There are clear differences in the extent and structure of these articles. There are also controversial discussions about the content of certain articles.
