Effective Management of Education: A Panacea for Poverty Alleviation for Sustainable Development in Nigeria

The greatest legacy any responsive and responsible Government can leave for his citizenry is to evolve policies and programmes that will guarantee the country's National Development. Since independence in 1960 both civilian and military regimes that hove had control of Governance in this country, had put up one of more strategies aimed at alleviating poverty as a means of guaranteeing the country's path to National Development. This paper attempted a survey of all Poverty alleviation policies and Programmes that had been fashioned out in this country since independence to the present days. The paper went further to suggest that since all other previous policies and programmes had failed to achieved its purpose, the only sure way of reducing poverty, there by building the country on a sound footing is through effective management of our educational sub-system
