Il contributo intende analizzare la ricca documentazione iconografica relativa a due importanti terremoti che hanno colpito la “Provincia di Basilicata” nell’Italia meridionale nel 1851 e nel 1857. In entrambi i casi i danni furono accuratamente rappresentati da disegni, e per il sisma del 1857 anche da fotografie, fonti preziose per la comprensione e l’analisi dei danni inferti al patrimonio urbano e architettonico della regione.
