Veterans may have technical and leadership skills but may lack information on starting a business. This descriptive study is based on the results of 33 completed questionnaires from veterans who own or plan to open a business in East Texas. The software SPSS was used for data analysis. Major objectives were to describe veteran-owned businesses and to identify needed types of assistance and information sources. Other objectives included identifying their core values and reasons for starting businesses, and their attitudes toward risk-taking, ambiguity, and change.
