Gavin Colquitt, Ed.D., adapted physical education professor at Georgia Southern, founded Camp RAD in 2012. Camp RAD, which stands for Recreation for Adolescents with Disabilities, is in its seventh year and serves people ages 7 through 22. Colquitt and his team create goals for each participant in hopes of providing them with a life-changing experience. The camp hosted over 50 campers this year, 25 on the Statesboro Campus and 25 at the Effingham County Parks and Recreation Department.
