Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Fraksi Etil Asetat Kulit Buah Citrus reticulata terhadap Propionibacterium acnes dengan menggunakan Metode Difusi Cakram

Background: Acne vulgaris (AV) is a chronic inflammation caused by the abnormalities of polisebaceous duct. One of pathogenesis of acne is the colonization of Propionibacterium acnes that caused inflammation. The first line therapy used for acne vulgaris treatment is antibiotics that might have many unwanted side effects including antibiotic resistance. Citrus reticulata proven to have many pharmacologic benefits including antibacterial therapy. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the antibacterial activity of ethyl acetate fraction of Citrus reticulata peel against Propionibacterium acnes. Method: Antibacterial activity test that is performed using disc diffusion method. The first step is fractionation. And then phytochemical screening was performed to identify the chemical compounds. Antibacterial activity test is performed using 2,5%, 6,5%, and 12,5% concentration. The disc containing test solution, positive control and negative control were placed at plate that already containing P. acnes and MHA. Then it is incubated at 37°C for 24 hours and then inhibition zone formed is measured. Results and conclusion: The average diameter measured from inhibition zone of antibacterial activity of ethyl acetate fraction Citrus reticulata peel concentration 2.5% is 6.90mm, contentration 6.5% is 7.95mm, and contentration 12.5% is 9.36mm. The result shows that ethyl acetate fraction of Citrus reticulata has potential as antibacterial therapy starting from the lowest concentration
