A cyber-physical system (CPS) is a system of collaborativecomputational agents offering monitoring and control of physicalsystems. The defining feature of a CPS is that sensing and controlsignals are broadly interchanged across the system's componentsthrough communication networks. Embedded systems, as aprecursor to CPSs, tend to put more emphasis on the computationalelements and less on the intense linkage between the computationaland physical elements.
