Castalia has been built using the OMNeT++ platform and can be used to simulate wireless sensor net- works, body area networks, and other networks of low-power embedded devices. Castalia's scalable module structure provides a stable and flexible framework for simulation that incorporates new and innovative distributed algorithms and protocols. This chapter starts out by explaining the structure of Castalia. Then, the procedure to create a new module within Castalia is presented to illustrate the investigation of new algorithms or protocols.
