This paper examines the place of privatization and the future of the public sector in Nigeria. In doing this, the meaning of privatization was discussed, the benefits of privatization was identified, the short comings of the public sector management of public enterprises that necessitated the privatization policy of government in the first instance was noted, and the future of the public sector in Nigeria was advocated. Though privatization policy of the government is good, it must be carried out in a transparent and genuine manner for it to achieve its goals and objectives by all in the society.
