This paper presents a mathematical analysis and simulation results to estimate the quality of digital communication systems, the bit error rate (number of information received incorrectly normalized by the total number of information bits received). However, more fundamental measure is the maximum information rate at which the communication is possible with vanishingly small probability of error called information channel capacity. The capacity of a channel with intersymbol interference (ISI) and adaptive minimum mean square error (MMSE) receiver, was shown in this paper
