The synthesis of six regiospecific deuterated D,L‐homoserine lactone hydrochlorides from the appropriately deuterated 2‐bromo‐1‐(tetrahydropyranyloxy) ethanes which were obtained by reduction of the corresponding ethyl bromoacetates are described.
