Synthesis and 1 H‐nmr of deuterium labeled D,L‐homoserine lactone hydrochlorides

The synthesis of six regiospecific deuterated D,L‐homoserine lactone hydrochlorides from the appropriately deuterated 2‐bromo‐1‐(tetrahydropyranyloxy) ethanes which were obtained by reduction of the corresponding ethyl bromoacetates are described.
