Mass spectrometry (MS)-based metabolomics offers quantitative analyses with high selectivity and sensitivity, and the potential to identify metabolites. MS is often combined with separation techniques such as liquid chromatography (LC). Metabolic profiling of Jurkat T cells was performed with hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC)/Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) MS in collaboration with Dr. Opipari’s group in the Medical School, University of Michigan. The developed HILIC/FT-ICR MS could detect metabolic changes of T-cells following metabolic perturbation.
