International audienceThis paper deals with the study of concrete structures exposed to fire. The aim of this study is to investigate and to model the damage mechanisms of concrete after exposure to high temperature. Numerical simulations have been carried out in order to study the structural effect of confined concrete specimens when they are subjected to high temperature. Theses simulations show that the “transient thermal strain”, noticed during experimental tests, is due to the thermal damage of concrete.
