Competences professionnelles et linguistiques de professionnels de sante dans l’espace frontalier Uruguayen-Bresilien: contribution de l’A.S.I. dans le champ de la psychologie interculturelle

The work we had presented stemmed from our research concerning the construction of identity in the people living on the border between Brazil and Uruguay, taking into account a linguistic aspect, such as the use of borderland dialects: Uruguayan Portuguese (UP, commonly known as portuñol) and Português Gaúcho da Fronteira (PGF). Our current research follows on its footsteps and springs from a significant on-site observation: a remarkable intention on the part of politicians to carry out projects aimed at fulfilling certain needs of the people living on the borderlands, especially in terms of healthcare. Considering the freedom of movement from both sides of the border, and taking into account the hybridism here present – both cultural and linguistic –we have decided to carry out research focusing on the health care providers who work in the border environment. We examine how they handle the cultural and linguistic complexity of this area characterized by two official languages (Spanish and Portuguese) and two local dialects, such as UP and PGF. What cultural competencies and language skills did these professionals develop so as to better respond to the needs of the borderland's population? In order to answer this question, we have interviewed 208 people and we have used four methodological tools: ethnographic observations, a questionnaire, the so-called instruction to a counterpart interviews, and self-confrontation interviews. Here we will present the results we have obtained through the Statistical Implicative Analysis (SIA) method, which focus above all on the analysis of the link between the healthcare workers' mother tongue and the difficulties or advantages this brings to their work considering the linguistic diversity at the Uruguay-Brazil border. The SIA has been paramount to help us understand, for instance, why bilingual people (with Spanish and Portuguese as mother tongues) are at a linguistic advantage compared to those with just one mother tongue. Furthermore, the similarity tree highlights the relationship between proximity to the border and linguistic competence. These results are supported by the structure of the cohesive trees and the implication graphs.Le travail que nous présentons ici se situe dans la continuité d’une recherche que nous avons présentée lors du 6e colloque international de l’Analyse Statistique Implicative (ASI) qui s’est tenu à Caen en 2012. A cette occasion, nous avions présenté un travail issu d’une investigation portant sur la construction identitaire de la population habitant à la frontière entre le Brésil et l’Uruguay, à partir d’une dimension linguistique, telle que la présence de dialectes frontaliers, le Portugais de l’Uruguay (PU, populairement appelé portugnol) et le Português Gaúcho da Fronteira (PGF). L’étude que nous menons actuellement se situe sur ce même terrain de recherche et part d’un constat que nous avons réalisé lorsque nous étions sur place : une forte volonté politique de créer des projets visant à combler certains besoins de la population frontalière, notamment dans le domaine de la santé. En raison de la liberté de circulation d’un côté et d’autre de la frontière et tenant compte de l’hybridisme présent à cet endroit –aussi bien culturel que linguistique – nous avons décidé de mener une recherche sur la question des professionnels de santé qui réalisent leur travail dans ce contexte frontalier. Nous nous demandons comment ces professionnels gèrent la complexité linguistique et culturelle de cet espace marqué par deux langues officielles (espagnol et portugais) et par deux dialectes locaux tels que le PU et le PGF. Quelles compétences culturelles et linguistiques sont développées par ces professionnels dans le but de mieux répondre aux demandes des usagers frontaliers ? Pour résoudre notre problématique, nous avons enquêté auprès de 208 personnes en utilisant quatre outils méthodologiques : observations ethnographiques, questionnaire, entretiens dits d’instruction au sosie et entretiens d’autoconfrontation simple. Nous présentons ici les résultats obtenus par la méthode d’Analyse Statistique Implicative (ASI), et qui se centrent notamment sur l’analyse des rapports entre la langue maternelle des professionnels et les difficultés ou facilités qu’ils expriment dans leur travail en raison de cette diversité linguistique à la frontière Uruguay-Brésil. L’ASI a été essentielle pour mieux comprendre, par exemple, pourquoi des sujets bilingues espagnol-portugais déclarent avoir plus de facilités linguistiques que ceux n’ayant qu’une seule langue maternelle. Par ailleurs, l’arbre de similarités est un outil qui met en évidence des liens entre la proximité frontalière et les rapports aux compétences linguistiques.
