This work falls within the field of photoacoustic imaging as a promising modality for biomedical applications. It consists in experimenting photoacoustic guidance of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for therapy, and in studying photoacoustic generation by gold nanoparticles as contrast agents. First of all, a probe designed for both photoacoustic imaging and ultrasound therapy was employed for \textit{in vitro} experiments. We demonstrate the feasability of photoacoustic guidance to treat a target embedded in biological tissue, as a promising tool for HIFU control.
