A failed center main bearing of an aeroengine was sent to the laboratory for failure investigation. From the analysis, it appears most probable that the bearing in question has failed due to lubricant starvation. Microstructural study and hardness survey indicate that the damages to the bearing would have taken place in a relatively short span of time. The material, microstructure and hardness of the bearing elements were found satisfactory and were not responsible for the failure
