The term IGES stands for Initial Graphics Exchange Specification. Normally CAD packages like AutoCAD support the standard IGES format for storing the graphical database of a drawing. But few CAD packages like MicroCADDs GCD (product of COMPUTER VISION SOFTWARE) do not support the standard IGES format. So it was considered a worthwhile effort to develop an IGES interface for MicroCADDs GCD CAD package.
