If two chemical amplification reactions are used in tandem, then the overall amplification will be the product of the amplification factor for each reaction. It is demonstrated here that this principle could be used to get a selective enhancement of signal which makes it possible to do ultra trace analysis by classical techniques like d.c.polarograph. For establishing this result, the chemical amplification reactions chosed are formation of heretopoly acid and cyclic regeneration of the species analysed. The later reaction is realised through catalytic d.c.polarography.
