Every ecosystem, small or big, either in land or in water has its significance as a result of unique life forms, interactions and functions. In Northern Michigan, acid bogs are unique ecosystems that are ecologically very important as they serve as habitat for many specialized plants. The behavior of Sphagnum moss is unique in that, it changes the habitat from a rich mineral to a low mineral environment and allows only specialized vegetation. Thus bogs support several species of specialized plant that do not grow in other habitats. For botanist and ecologist, bogs are worth saving for the scientific purposes and to support biodiversity conservation.http://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/54889/1/3330.pdfDescription of 3330.pdf : Acc...
