The issue of sexuality is perhaps the last taboo as regards open discussion in physical education. Although as I shall argue within this chapter there have been some changes within the pedagogical practices and expectations of physical educators in the two decades since Lenskyj first referred to the ‘chilly silence’ surrounding this issue in the mid 1980s much remains to be done if physical education is to recognise and allow for the sexual diversity of all its participants.
