ME450 Capstone Design and Manufacturing Experience: Winter 2007The purpose of this project was to reduce the time it takes a piano technician to measure and record data regarding force and friction in a piano key. We have designed and fabricated a mechatronic gauge to assist in the process of keyboard balancing. Our gauge significantly accelerates the process currently done by hand. Engineering specifications for this device have been created after considering the customer’s requirements and the possible market.Robert Grijalva, School of Music, Theatre & Dance University of Michigan.
