Introduction: Gastric cancer is one of the most common and lethal malignancies in the world. All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) has been widely used to treat cancers, most notably for the acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL)-as a differentiation inducer. Notch signaling plays important oles in cell proliferation and apoptosis. Aberrant activation of notch signaling pathway has been stated in different malignancies including gastric cancer. The aim of this study was to assess the possible effects of ATRA on cellular viability, cell cycle shift and apoptosis induction of gastric MKN-45 cell line.
