After a cruise phase of more than ten years the Rosetta spacecraft entered orbit around comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko (CG) on 6 August 2014. From this date the spacecraft began to escort the comet and will follow it till the end of the nominal mission (December 2015). This allowed very accurate nucleus imaging making 67P/CG the sixth comet to be directly observed from a spacecraft after 1P/Halley , 9P/Temple 1, 19P/Borrelly, 81P/Wild 2 and 103P/Hartley 2.
