In many applications the image quality of remote sensing data is of fundamental importance and is usually assessed by visual analysis subjective to the interpreter. In many situations, a single sensor is not sufficient to provide an accurate perception of the real world. Data and image fusion is a common way to overcome this problem. The basic objective of data fusion is to derive a higher amount of information compared to that what would have from any individual input sensor.
