Simulation of artificial reflectivity maps supports the interpretation of high resolution SAR images in the azimuth-range plane. Nonetheless, simulation in 3D is mandatory in order to localize and identify salient point scatterers which, for instance, are analyzed for detecting deformation signals by Persistent Scatterer Interferometry. This paper presents first results of a 3D SAR simulation approach based on Ray Tracing methods.
