The atomization characteristics of various Newtonian fluids with a doublet like-on-like impinging jet injector under ambient pressure and temperature conditions and jet velocities up to 80 m/s was investigated and com-pared. It could be observed that with increasing jet velocity the breakup behavior of the investigated fluids changes in different manner. Seven different main breakup modes could be identified and arranged in a Weber-Reynolds regime diagram for Reynolds and Weber numbers from 10î1 to 10î5 and Ohnesorge numbers from 0.0027 to 3.8
