The detection of ships and the retrieval of parameters like vessel velocity, heading and size are important techniques for ocean and shore surveillance systems. Space borne SAR along-track interferometry (ATI) can detect ships for large areas and measure their velocity at the same time by means of interferometric phase. In this paper we report about first results of automatic ship detection using TerraSAR-X ATI
