The decoding of Zinoviev`s generalized concatenated code can be divided into the decoding of the inner and outer codes from which the ZV code is constructed. If both the inner and outer codes are short then the ZV code can be decoded fastly. Short inner and outer codes also make an effective use of soft desision information possible
