Metabolism of dihydroxyacteone (DHA) has been studied with rate liver extract. Requirements for ATP, NAD and magnesium have been quantitated. Calcium, lithium and phosphate ions as well as several well known metabolic inhibitors were found to inhibit DHA metabolism. Formation of DHA phosphate and lactate was demonstrated by paper chromatography and autoradiography.
